Wife says it's the best buy she's made in a whileTook about five days to get it active from shipping. But once it was ready, wow did things move fast. First loaf was a little weaker than we like, but all those since have been damned good. Made three loaves plus a batch of cinnamon rolls within 4 or five days, plus we gave away enough for three other households to have starters. Took it dormant for a week or so, took two days to get it active again, then four more loaves plus another batch of cinnamon rolls. Looking forward to many more loaves in the future!5Did not turn out as advertised.Difficult to keep up in my climate (south Georgia). Occasionally got the flavor but never the rise. Would not recomended it in my zone.1Nice flavor to the sourdoughNice flavor to the sourdough, but it i very mild compared to the SF breads I have eaten before (and in SF). The Giza culture I also purchased made for a much stronger flavored bread. Took longer to produce a culture than I thought (about five days).3You just have to learn by trial and error just like with any living thingThe bread came out ok.My homegrown sourdough did just as well with less effort.You just have to learn by trial and error just like with any living thing. I just pulled 2 loaves out of the oven. I followed the enclosed directions exactly. I DO have a little experience with sourdough starters but all i did was follow directions.. The culture was VERY active and " happy little yeasties" on the 6'th day. The taste of this bread is W O N D E R F U L !.. I followed an extra tangy sourdough bread recipe from the king arthur flour web site. But the credit goes to the starter.. wonderful. Nice tang to it REALLY REALLY GOOD ! If your thinking about buying this and haven't yet...omg BUY THIS ONE!!!5Pretty easy to get startedI've started this culture on two separate occasions. Pretty easy to get started. It does produce a very sour loaf. on first try I missed one feeding about three weeks after starting (I feed twice a day) and that seemed to weaken the culture and changed its character. Ultimately let that one die. Just started a new one a week ago. Going very strong so far. Baking this weekend and have high hopes.4It takes a few days to get it going, but worth the wait.After feeding the sour dough starter mix for 7 days I made a loaf of bread & the flavor was great.5SourdoughMy husband loves Sourdough and I have tried other cultures in the past that he had a definate dislike for. This one has a sweet, pungent smell and is really nice the older it gets the better. Fast shipping and we are very pleased.5
